How to use Whiz
Paste a link, pick a shape, and a few minutes later you have a short, animated, on-brand video to post. Here's everything else worth knowing.
How it works
- Paste a link. A blog post, a launch or feature page, or your homepage.
- We read it. Whiz picks the one message the page lands and the few ideas behind it, and takes your colors, fonts and logo from your site.
- We storyboard and animate it. Each idea becomes motion: a number that counts up, options with the right one lighting up, a process with a dot travelling through it. We check draft frames before rendering.
- You download the MP4. Usually ready in about 5 minutes. Change any words, colors or the logo afterwards for free.
Which link to use
Give the page that says what you want the video to say.
- A launch post or changelog entry makes a video about that feature.
- A feature or product page makes a video about what it does for people.
- Your homepage makes a video about the product as a whole.
Pages with concrete detail (numbers, steps, before and after) make the best videos. The page has to be public: we can't read pages behind a login. Your brand always comes from the site the link is on.
Screenshots
Optional. Without them the video is made of animated graphics, plus any images from the page. Add up to 6 if you want your real product on screen: we crop in on the parts that matter, or rebuild them as animated screens.
Full-window screenshots of the screens the page talks about work best. PNG, JPEG or WebP, under 15 MB each.
Shape and where to post
- Landscape 16:9 (1920×1080): LinkedIn, X, YouTube.
- Vertical 9:16 (1080×1920): Reels, TikTok, Shorts, Stories.
- Square 1:1 (1080×1080): Instagram, LinkedIn and X feeds.
The layout is designed for each shape, not cropped, so make one of each if you post in several places.
Notes
Use the notes box to steer the video: who it's for, an offer to mention, the tone, or a line you'd like used. For example: "For finance teams. Mention the 14-day free trial. Calm, not salesy."
While it's made
The video page shows each step as it happens: reading your site and page, writing the storyboard, reviewing draft frames, then rendering. If others are ahead of you, it shows your place in the queue. You can close the page; we'll email you when it's ready.
Editing a video
Open a finished video and choose Edit words & brand. You can change:
- Words in every scene: headlines, labels, captions, list points, the button and the website shown at the end. Wrap a word or two of a headline in
**double stars**to set it in your main color. - Colors: main, second, background and text. Text is kept readable against the background.
- Logo: upload your own, choose whether it shows, and whether your name shows beside it (untick that if your logo already spells your name).
Save and we render the same scenes again with your changes. Edits are free and don't use up a video, up to 20 per video.
Edit or new take?
Edit keeps the scenes and changes what's in them. It's free.
Make another take starts over: a fresh storyboard with a new angle and new scenes. It uses one of your videos and replaces the current one, so download it first if you want to keep it.
Brands and logos
Every site you make videos for gets its own brand, under Brands once you're signed in. We read the name, colors, fonts and icon from the site; you can set the name, colors and logo yourself, and every new video for that site uses them. Reset goes back to what we read from the site.
You can also upload a logo when you make a video, or tick Use this brand for future videos when you edit one. A transparent PNG or SVG works best; a plain white background is removed for you.
Pricing and the watermark
- Your first video is free, with a small "Made by Whiz" watermark.
- $5 a video, bought as you need them. No watermark, and they never expire.
- $49/month for 30 videos a month, no watermark. Cancel any time from Plan & billing.
To remove the watermark from your free video, choose Remove watermark on it: free with a subscription, otherwise it uses a bought video. It renders the same video again without the watermark.
If a video fails
A video that fails doesn't use up one of your videos. If it failed while rendering, choose Render again: it's free and keeps the same storyboard. If it failed earlier (we couldn't read the page, or we were busy), choose Try again. If a page can't be read, try a different link, such as the homepage.
Your team
Invite people under Team; they sign in with a code we email them, no password. Everyone in an account shares its videos, brands and plan. Owners and admins manage billing, brands and settings. If you work with several companies, you can belong to more than one account and switch between them from the sidebar.
Ready when you are
Your first video is free. All you need is a link.
